Can I travel independently in Tibet?

According to the laws and regulations of Tibet Tourism in recent years, all foreign travelers are not allowed to travel independently in Tibet. All foreign citizens have to be in a tour group (a group can be any number of travelers, one person or more) that is arranged and travel services offered by a qualified by a local travel agency.

During your Tibet tour, you have to be accompanied by a tour guide, incl. Lhasa airport and train station pickup and seeoff, attractions visit, sightseeing, transport, etc. You can join a fixed departure Tibet group tour, or let your agency offer a tailor-made private Tibet tour according to your needs.

After the activities each day in Lhasa, Shigatse, Gyantse or Nyingchi, etc., you are free to walk around the hotel independently or go to a nearby restaurant.

If you travel to Tibet as a solo traveler but want to visit Tibet more flexible, you can ask for a private tour for you.
