FAQs on 13 Days Kailash Tour
-
1. How much does a 13-day Mount Kailash tour cost?
Planning a 13-day Kailash trip typically involves considering visa and permit fees, transportation, accommodation, meals, and personal expenses. Visa fees vary depending on your nationality, visa type, and number of entries, while Tibet Travel Permit, Aliens’ Travel Permit, and Military Area Entry Permit are included in the tour package price. Transportation costs, especially airfare, depend on your booking time and travel distance. Accommodation and meal costs vary depending on the tier you choose; higher tiers are more expensive. If you choose to rent yaks, buy souvenirs, or participate in other activities, the total cost may be higher. For a more affordable trip, you can consider joining our 13-day group tour, sharing costs with other group members and making your trip more relaxed.
-
2. Is a 2-day Kailash Kora suitable for everyone?
While a 2-day Kailash trek is a unique experience, it does require a certain amount of physical strength. Because the trek needs to be completed in a short time and the intensity is relatively high, participants need to have a certain level of physical stamina and the ability to acclimatize to high altitudes. This means that a 2-day Mount Kailash Kora is more suitable for younger hikers. If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, or other medical conditions, or are prone to altitude sickness, it is recommended that you consult your doctor in advance.
-
3. Are markets or restaurants available along the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?
There are several supply points along the approximately 54km Kailash trekking route, where you'll find simple Tibetan teahouses, local restaurants, or guesthouses offering simple but clean, warm and nutritious meals to keep you energized for the kora.
Alternatively, you can bring some of your favorite snacks, such as chocolate bars, nuts, or biscuits. Anyway, the hot water is available for free.
-
4. What precautions should I take for my health during the Kailash trip?
When traveling to Kailash Tibet, as the altitude increases and oxygen levels decrease, you should pay attention to your diet, stay hydrated, and get plenty of rest to allow your body and mind to fully adapt to the high altitude, thus ensuring a safe and comfortable journey.
-
5. What happens in case of rain or snowfall during Kailash Yatra?
Mount Kailash is at a high altitude, low-lying, and sparsely vegetated. Therefore, even when it rains, the rain only lasts a few minutes before the ground dries up quickly. The rain barely affects the Kora, since it happens between May and September, which is usually the summer season; there is generally no snowfall during this time. Even encountering snow or strong winds at passes is normal in such a remote and high-altitude area.
-
6. Can I ride a yak or a horse to do Mount Kailash Kora?
You can rent horses in Darchen for riding, or donkeys to carry your luggage. However, horses can only carry you up to the Dolma La Pass, as the descent from there is too steep for them. We usually recommend hiring a porter who can carry your luggage and trek with you the entire way. Many locals offer this service near your hotel in Darchen, and we can arrange it for you.
