FAQs on 10 Days Kailash Tour
-
1. What visas and permits are needed for a 10-day Kailash tour?
International travelers must obtain a Chinese Visa before traveling to Tibet. If you are from a China visa-free country, you do not need it. In addition to a visa, all international travelers must hold necessary travel documents for Kailash, such as the Tibet Travel Permit, Aliens’ Travel Permit, and Military Area Entry Permit.
-
2. Can I travel alone to Mount Kailash for 10 days?
We regret to inform you that international tourists are not permitted to travel alone in Tibet and the Mount Kailash region. All foreign tourists must arrange their itinerary through a reputable Tibetan travel agency, such as Travelkailash.com. We will handle all matters and provide customized services to meet your individual needs, ensuring a smooth and wonderful trip to Kailash.
-
3. How to plan a 10-day trip from Kathmandu to Mount Kailash?
When preparing for your Mount Kailash trip, you first need to choose your preferred route and the attractions you want to visit. Then, choose a qualified travel agency to book your itinerary, as independent travel is not permitted in Tibet. After negotiating with the travel agency and providing the necessary documents and information, the agency will handle your Tibetan Travel Permit and other required permits. They will also assist you with booking accommodation and transportation, ensuring everything is arranged properly. After that, you can fully prepare for your upcoming Kailash tour.
-
4. Can I still experience the Kailash Yatra in October?
Yes, October is one of the best months to experience the Kailash Kora. Compared to summer, there are fewer trekkers, allowing for a better trekking experience.
Furthermore, the weather on Kailash is relatively stable in October, with higher visibility. At sunrise and sunset, you're more likely to see the setting sun illuminating the pyramid-shaped summit of Kailash and feel the sacred power of this most holy mountain in Tibet.
-
5. Is there an easier way to complete the Kailash pilgrimage?
If you want to complete the pilgrimage yourself but prefer a less strenuous experience, you can choose to rent a horse or hire a porter to help you carry your luggage.
We generally recommend hiring a porter, as they can carry approximately 15 to 20kg of luggage and will accompany you throughout the 3-day Kailash Kora. Renting a horse and porter is usually more expensive, and horses can only transport luggage up to the Dolma La Pass, as the descent from there is too steep for them.
-
6. How do I prepare myself for the yatra? What exercises are recommended?
Besides consulting a doctor about the suitability of traveling to high-altitude areas, some preparatory work is helpful. Exercises such as brisk walking, jogging, swimming, or cycling can improve your cardiovascular health. Also, avoid any strenuous exercise for a week before your trip to Tibet, as this may put extra strain on your body and increase the risk of altitude sickness.
